Capacity, and our affiliate TriCap International, has worked with clients to optimize shipping to retailers and consumer alike. We are strategically located inside the LA and New York ‘commercial zone’, allowing most of our clients to ship to their major retail customers via freight collect. We are close to key consolidation points, and parcel carriers major distribution hubs. We offer deep shipping discounts and provide administrative services including auditing, bill consolidation and payment and additional payment terms above and beyond those provided by the carriers. And we have the volumes to ensure greater responsiveness and service from all the major carriers.
Capacity aggregates shipping volumes from all of our clients to ensure that all of them enjoy the benefits. Our parcel discounts range from as much as 25% to over 50%, depending on the size of the shipment and the service level. Our truck load discounts in our regular lanes are dramatic, as our ability to ensure that only the most reliable carriers are used and that service requirements are met or exceeded. We have relationships with our carriers on an executive-to-executive level – when there are urgent issues to address we do not have to resort to the 800 number.
Case Study
Challenge: A new Capacity client was preparing to ship their first major retailer, even before moving into Capacity’s facilities. The issue was that the shipment needed to be picked up on a Friday to make a Monday cancel date for arrival at the retailer’s DC (distribution center.) The pickup was at the clients garage, required a lift gate pickup and other ‘white glove’ type services we frequently are called on to provide. The real issue was temperature related: the client was concerned about product separating and extreme cold was predicted for the weekend, during which the product would presumably be at the carrier’s outside trailer yard.
Solutions: Capacity relied on a long-standing relationship with Yellow Roadway (YRC) to not only ensure the pickup and delivery requirements were made, but that the client’s product was brought inside a heated terminal and covered with blankets to ensure the integrity of the product for the critical shipment.
